Sabrina Lassague On Making Filming Her Passion

What must-have Amazon product are you using that you can’t live without?

My current Amazon obsession is a stainless steel pasta maker and grain grinder. I love making pasta and cereal. It’s an activity that I have always enjoyed and have only gotten better at as time goes on. It’s also a way for me to relax when I’m not on set. I love having friends over for pasta nights, and these tools make it so simple.

What are your personal goals for this year?

My personal goal this year is to find more balance between my personal life and my career. I have a lot of film goals: getting signed for directing, releasing my film, “Blight,” making a feature film, and getting cast in a project I am passionate about. I also have personal goals: cooking more, spending more time with friends and family, and taking more risks in my everyday life. I want to say ‘yes’ to more opportunities without overthinking. I am turning 21 soon; I want to enjoy my life as much as possible and allow myself the ability to feel comfortable in my youth. Last year, I was in such a rush to grow up; the industry will do that to you.

Who is your biggest inspiration, how do you try to emulate this person?

It’s hard to give the title of “biggest inspiration” to just one person. I look up to the many talented Black women in films such as Issa Rae, Ava Duvernay, Shatara Michelle Ford, Kerry Washington, Regina King, Shonda Rhimes, Yara Shahidi, and Marsai Martin. I find myself emulating all of them. They are extremely resilient, and the stories they tell are reflections of their lived experiences. I find myself focusing on telling stories that matter to me and reflect society or reflect my own life. I don’t have boundaries in what genres I explore; that’s because of these women. The same goes for business. I don’t limit myself to filmmaking, I have a lot of business ventures that I plan to explore in the future. I am still finding my voice and there is plenty of time for me to do so. In the meantime, it is nice to know that there are women who are working to create space for me in all areas of entertainment and across all occupations and industries that I may choose to explore.
