How did Jubilee Balloon Co. get started, and what does it look like now?

Emily had been making mini balloon garlands for kid’s birthday drive-by during the Covid stay at home quarantine last spring. One evening over porch drinks at Liz’s house (after the stay at home order was lifted), Rachel showed Emily and Liz some amazing balloon displays. We were intrigued to see what we could come up with and decided to give it a try for fun. We started decorating our friend’s doorways for their birthdays and things quickly took off. We now have a workshop in Mission, KS (Kansas City area), several employees and a sprinter van!

What is your favorite creation you've made thus far and why?

We absolutely loved doing a two story display and balloon tunnel for Mission Hills Country Club’s Summer Solstice party last year. We have also done some large displays for various Chiefs players’ parties, which has been so much fun!

What's the best part of working together and how has it made your business stronger?

Working as a team has been awesome. When we encounter new things or big decisions it’s great to have three perspectives. We also have an amazing team that brings creativity to our business and helps us problem solve. We could not do it without them, from answering emails, building balloons to installing them.

What do you find most challenging about being entrepreneurs?

The most challenging part of being entrepreneurs has been acknowledging when things haven’t worked and making mistakes. The most important part is we have learned and grown from our mistakes and it has helped us continue to create and grow. It’s been an exciting eighteen months for Jubilee Balloon Co and we can’t wait to see what 2022 brings!
