Mady & Scout of Okay Sis Podcast
Your podcast is absolutely amazing. What compelled you to start a podcast?
I (Scout here!) had my own podcast years ago but it was becoming stale. I wasn't treating it like a business and wasn't the most strategic on messaging, growth, or community building. Mads and I were at a hotel celebrating her birthday and after one too many rosés, I looked at her and asked her if she wanted to be my guest on next week's episode since I didn't have an episode slated. We found the business center, recorded the episode on my phone, chatted all about pop culture and The Bachelor, and ate truffle chips the entire time (terrible audio experience for the listener!). I had so much fun and recognized that this concentrated energy between us was infectious - just for me! Two weeks later, I asked her if she wanted to start a podcast. Two weeks after that, we launched Okay Sis Podcast! In the beginning, we did it to connect to our girl crushes. We wanted an excuse to ask them anything for up to an hour! What unfolded was way more magic than we could have predicted: our sisterly relationship soared and we built this incredible community of women - both in our listeners and in our guests. When we started Okay Sis Podcast, we also really wanted to show the multi-faceted side of women so we launched it with our current fixations segment where we chat about something we are obsessed with (TV show, book, philosophy, ritual, skincare product). We also didn't niche down! We wanted to interview reality TV stars, entrepreneurs, authors, content creators, therapists! At Okay Sis, you get sisterhood across all levels.
What are some of your favorite podcasts to listen to?
I love listening to Almost 30, EXPANDED, The Skinny Confidential, The Highest Self Podcast, School of Greatness, and The Jasmine Star Show.
Give advice to young entrepreneur who are just starting off.
My advice would be to jump and attach the parachute while you are jumping :) Mads would be a bit more thought-out than that but I think the main thing is just to start, to adjust as you go along, to expect fires, to be resilient, and to know that if you are working towards your dream, you are on the right path. Oh, and celebrate the small wins. Those micro celebrations will make the journey. □
