Tell us about Emma Make.
Emma Make is a culmination of all my design interests. My Instagram followers are probably most familiar with my art prints, which I make and sell on Etsy. I produce digital and giclee prints, as well as screen prints, risographs, and scarfs. I work with what invigorates me - normally colour - and I would say that my style is slightly abstract but always rooted in nature. However, I also run a second business on Creative Market where I create graphic design products and patterns. Sometimes, these patterns also end up on my Etsy, so, in a way, the businesses are linked. I also try to ensure that my businesses are sustainable. With the Creative Market, this is no problem l, as it is digital. For my Etsy business, it's about substituting more sustainable bamboo paper for regular paper and packaging while using as little plastic as possible. I am also lucky in the sense that I am able to go to local tailors and printers in Portugal.
What do you wish people to take away from your designs?
I try and invoke a certain mood in all my work; an aesthetic that I find enjoyable, and I hope that the people who get to engage with the designs are also able to recognize this and identify with it themselves.
