From The Founder: Finding Patience, Passion & Purpose

I heard a quote from Tim Ferris that said “the opposite of happiness is boredom.” Ferris later went on to mention that most people seek happiness in all the wrong ways. Life isn’t void of suffering, so constantly pursuing happiness will always fall short. What people are really chasing is excitement from something/someone that makes them feel alive inside. Most unhappy people are often just bored or unexcited about life. It begs the question, in your pursuit of happiness, how will you choose to live a life that excites you?

Passion comes into play here. Passion looks different for everyone. Passion might mirror late-night conversations with friends, finished projects, concerts, awards, community, or anything that gives a deep sense of joy and satisfaction. I think that everyone should have a passion. Life is too short to be bored. If you have been feeling bored lately, the Universe may be inviting you to adventure into the unknown so that you can discover your own passion. Your interests are a part of your identity, so it is essential that you take time to explore how you personally identify to the world around you.

If you don't know where to start, create a Pinterest account! Create ten different boards that represent the woman you want to become, the life you want to lead, and what you like to do in your free time. Next, write down four of your closest friends and what you like about them. Finally, write down ten hobbies that energetically align with the information you have just provided yourself. Write down things that you have been wanting to try, even if they make you feel afraid.

This list of potential hobbies will act as your trial-and-error list over the next year. I want to encourage you to commit to exploring these hobbies in their fullest capacity. Find an online or in-person community relating to these hobbies, explore social media pages, watch YouTube videos, or better yet, sign up for a class. Just start somewhere. You will never know what you are missing out on if you don't try!

I feel blessed to have found my lifelong passion this past year. H3R has grown into so much more than I ever could have dreamed. The women whom I have connected with, the stories I have heard, and the creativity I have released through H3R has truly been life-changing. I am thankful for my own, earnest desire to seek out a passion that also provides me with a deep sense of purpose.

As we begin the March issue, I want to leave you with this message:

You do have a passion deep within your heart; find it and ignite it. Allow this passion to unravel in its own time. Be patient with it. Nurture it. Journal what this process looks like for you. You will know exactly when you have found it. Once you find your passion, build daily habits and routines that feed it. Passion feeds your soul and your soul deserves to be well-fed. You deserve to lead a passionate, fun, and fulfilling life!

Prioritize the discovery of your passions.

I hope you enjoy the March issue; it was a pleasure to put together. This month’s lineup of women makes for a fun and eclectic read. I personally wrote an exclusive article on my first-ever in-person interview. I had the honor of interviewing Hazel Butterfield, a lovely craftswoman from Pacific Palisades, California. The article is titled: “Avant-Garde Sustainability: How Craftswoman Hazel Butterfield Tate Connects Eco-Consciousness, History, and Community Through Her Small Business.”

As always, I wish you all a wonderful month. Keep me updated on your entrepreneurial journeys, you can email me at: nicole@h3r.space. Share your story or apply to be featured! I look forward to connecting with each of you.

Much love,

Nicole de Fulgentiis
