Tenacity is good. Success is something to aspire to. Great things and great achievements don’t come easily. They see their mom doing it. Integrating motherhood and my work is important to my family. After 12 years of being self-employed and exploring several paths around fashion and social media, I started creating my now-signature illustrations while in lockdown in 2020. It only took a few months for them to go viral, and the rest is history. It's still unbelievable to say that I am a full time artist, but it feels like my entire life has led up to this point.

I went through a difficult experience for a number of years; when I was a freshman in college I was sexually assaulted. When I reported him to the university (and was found in the right), he sued me to the tune of millions of dollars for defamation.
I’m Nadya Okamoto, and I am currently based in NYC. I’m the co-founder and CEO of August, a lifestyle brand working to reimagine periods. Previously, I was the Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, Period.org. After working in the nonprofit sector for 6 years, I felt called to the brand side to innovate on actual period care and reimagine the conversation around periods from the avenue of social entrepreneurship.
