Own the Trend Founder, Farida Bayoumi

How did Own The Trend Get started and what does it look like now?

My husband and I (boyfriend at the time) started OWN THE TREND because both of us were unemployed. I was doing my last semester in university and he was studying for his pharmacy board exam. We were watching LOTS of Shark Tank in between studying so we decided, Why not start our own business? And that way, we can have an income while we finish our studies.

I sold my camera for $300, and he sold his old laptop for $300. And that's how we started - with just $600! I'm proud to say we are 100% self-funded, and we've just been directing our profits back into the business so we can continue to grow. We now have warehouses in Egypt, Dubai, Canada, and we sell on Amazon US! We recently hit the 5 figure monthly revenue margin and I have to say, while I'm super proud, I know this is only the beginning for us!

Who/what inspired you to become an Amazon FBA Coach?

I always looked at selling on Amazon as an opportunity that just wasn't feasible for me. I had so many assumptions about it. I had managed a million-dollar company's Amazon store, but still thought for a small business, it must be way too hard to get in the game. One day, a bulb lit up in my head. That instead of ruling out Amazon completely, I should learn everything about it, challenge my assumptions, then make a decision. As soon as I began to read into it, I realized this was a magical opportunity that not enough people are speaking about.

This could solve so many people's problems and can generate a side income that will make lots of families financially free! I mean, the fact that you can make a 5-figure profit from a business that pretty much runs itself, alone, is in my opinion, worth the conversation. So that's why I decided to become a coach! I truly want to help people take control of their financial freedom and get in on this opportunity while they can.

Also as soon as I started talking about it on Tiktok, I couldn't believe how many people were interested and had never heard of it before. I think sharing knowledge is one of the most important things one can do to help each other. If everyone kept their findings to themselves, the world wouldn't be where it is today.

What have been the most important lessons you have learned as an entrepreneur?

Knowledge is power. I think no matter what field you want to work in, you should spend the time to become an expert at your topic/job. When I would read books about Amazon or about entrepreneurship in general, I would think to myself, "Wow, how was I living my life without knowing this?" As long as you stay hungry to learn, you will be able to overcome anything your business goes through. You don't have to know what you're doing to start, but you have to be willing to learn how to do it and MASTER it to succeed.

Who/what are your biggest motivators?

I read a quote the other day that said, "I have a certain lifestyle in mind, and I won't stop until I get it," and I truly resonated with that. I think my #1 motivation is the freedom to be able to live anywhere, spend time with my (future) kids, travel the world, and not be tied to a 9-5 that gives me only 2-4 weeks of vacation.
