From The Founder: Operating A Business From The Feeling Of Ease Instead Of Need

By: Nicole de Fulgentiis the Founder of H3R Magazine

It’s mindblowing to me that exactly one year ago today, H3R released its very first issue. I remember all the preparation and vision that went into our first launch, it truly would not have been possible without my team (Lily, if you are reading this, THANK YOU!)

Sarah Nicole Landry @thebirdspapaya was our first Covergirl, followed by interviews with NASA Engineer Joan Misner, TedX Speaker Amberly Lago, and so many other incredible women. I was undone by the responses of these women when I reached out asking them to be in the first issue of a magazine that didn’t even exist yet! At that point, the magazine was still an idea floating around in my mind that had yet to manifest into a physical reality. These women were not only willing to interview with us, but were actually excited to do so! In addition, they referred their friends to be interviewed, shared their H3R interview to their large social media audiences, and thanked us for the opportunity. Just like that, my whole world changed. I found my calling, my life’s purpose. H3R is everything to me because it fuels all of my deepest desires: community, creativity, inspiration, and growth. And most importantly, creating a safe space for women to share their stories, learn about business and to feel honored, celebrated and embraced. When I started this business, I had a very different definition of success than I do now. Now, I see that success is measured in so many different ways. We often ask the women we interview, “How do you define success?” Everyone’s response is completely different. Some say financial success, others say time freedom, emotional fulfillment or feeling supported in their community. While all of those things are certainly rewards for our hard work, we must remember that we have to deeply connect with what success means to us on a soul level.

The truth of who we are, right down to our cores, is that as humans, we require deep connection, love, and belonging. Once these needs are fully met we can rest in satisfaction. Success doesn't mean that we have to compensate for our emotional needs with status, bigger and better deals, or the empty chasing of meaningless accomplishments. I wholeheartedly believe that true and pure success fills our cup of belonging, love, and connection. From what I’ve read of the 160+ women we have interviewed, when women start a business these core needs can be met in so many unexpected ways. Community, purpose, love, service, vision, and a deep sense of accomplishment are often found when starting a business. It’s a very beautiful journey filled with unexpected ups and downs. Owning a business gives you powerful authority over your life and a confidence in yourself that is hard to find elsewhere.

Success is spiritual.

I define spirituality as the acknowledgement of a greater power operating in our life and the world as a whole. Spiritually looks different for everyone. If I let go of the labels, mysteries, and misconceptions about spirituality, I am left with this concept of faith alone. Faith is believing in things unseen that offer us hope and light in a world that can often feel so dark and heavy. I believe that I was created with a purpose just like everyone else.

H3R practices spirituality by honoring Divine energy and its place in business. Everything is connected energetically, every emotion, space, person, and thing. When it comes to business, Danica (The CMO and COO of H3R) and I are very protective of the energy that goes into H3R. We strive to partner with people and brands that are energetically aligned with our values. We also emphasize the concept of “ease” versus the concept of “need”. The feeling of “ease” carries peace, security, assurance, and trust. Ease helps us vibrate at a higher frequency and flow with the universe, trusting that we have everything we need, because we do. The energy of “need” consistently points to a mindset of “lack”. The energy of “need” feels stressful, impatient, pressured, and rushed. (I’m not advising to ignore needs. Sometimes decisions in business need to be made in a quick and timely manner. I’m speaking conceptually and as a visionary. Stay with me here). If you want a successful business, tune into the frequency of success. Make sure you have defined exactly what success feels and looks like to you. True success operates from ease. Tune into your gut instincts and feel the energy of every business decision you make. Ask yourself: Does this decision come from the energy or ease or need?

Stress is unnecessary. Sustainability is essential. Rome wasn't built in a day. Trust the process, learn throughout the process, and most importantly learn to love the process. Be willing to remain flexible, have courage and don’t be afraid to pivot.

Making “ease” a core value of H3R ensures that we are not over-extending or burning ourselves out. Ease helps keep our vision alive, it is fulfilling, peaceful, and surrenders our success and big decisions to the timing of the Universe.

Believe in yourself, your ideas, and your company. This belief will carry you more than anything else. Trust yourself to build at your own pace. Learn to explore your ideas and don’t be afraid to execute. Never give up. Things take time. Knowing these elemental truths will help you practice maintaining ease in your day to day routine.

Let’s dive into our June issue, and what an issue it is. To start our covergirl, Sheleana Aiyana, founder of @risingwoman announced the release of her new book, Becoming The One. I had the opportunity to receive an early edition of this book and let me just say, I ate this book UP! It was such a timely read for me. It will help you build a strong foundation within yourself so that you can create fulfilling relationships and show up better in your life and business. This book connected dots for me that would have taken years for me to connect otherwise. Sheleana’s wisdom is simple yet powerfully transformative. She teaches you how to embrace and “experience the full spectrum of our humanity.” (p.64)

In her interview with H3R Magazine, Sheleana Aiyana unpacks what the process of writing her book looked like and provides our readers with advice on how to navigate the complexities of relationships. Make sure to follow Sheleana on Instagram @risingwoman and purchase her new book Becoming the One, out now.

As always, I would like to thank my business partner and team. I love you guys. Your commitment and work ethic inspires me to show up every day. This dream would be impossible without you. Thank you to our readers, we value your time spent with us. Feel free to reach out to me at any time via email nicole@h3r.space with any questions, ideas, or stories. I would love to hear from you!

Wishing you a beautiful June ahead! □
