Co-Founder Of Almost 30 Podcast, Krista Williams
What goals do you want to accomplish within the next 3 years? Professionally and personally.
Wow, so many things! I want to continue to grow Almost 30 intuitively in a way that feels like us. My goal is to continue to stay true to ourselves and do it our own way — like we’ve always done. We are going to continue to grow and evolve our Almost 30 Membership and community, which is such a special place and there is so much opportunity for expansion there.
I also have big dreams for my deck that is coming out this year. I worked really hard on a beautiful modern minimal deck to help make tarot modern. I have used tarot as a tool of divination for years and feel like it’s such a practice of synchronicity and beauty. I want everyone to experience that with my deck. I will have a corresponding app that comes with it that’s super unique and helpful for people to help apply tarot to their lives.
Personally, I am manifesting the perfect home for my husband and me. We just got married this year so we are settling into this new phase of our lives. In the next 3 years, I see us potentially moving and taking a lot of exciting steps as a family.
Are there any upcoming projects that you're working on?
Lindsey and I are constantly evolving Almost 30 and innovating with new projects. We have some really exciting projects coming up for our PodcastPro brand to support podcasters to launch, grow, monetize their podcasts. We are also working on a brand new program for Almost 30 that will come out in 2022 that will share fully how we support ourselves through our twenties because it was such a wild time — more details soon. As I mentioned I have been working on my own Tarot deck, which has been a passion project of mine for a long time :). That will be its own world pretty much so I am so excited to share that with the world.
How did you develop a passion for podcasts and empowering the community?
Ever since I was young growing up in a small town in Ohio, I always felt like I had a higher purpose. I knew I was meant to have my voice heard and make a difference. It took me a while to figure out exactly how to spread my message — I worked in marketing in corporate America, started a travel business, and became a blogger — but when I discovered podcasting, it all fell into place. I am so passionate about podcasting because it gave me a platform to be my authentic self, connect with people, and cultivate a community that forever changed my life. It was the first medium where I felt like I could speak from my Soul, get curious, ask questions that I personally wanted answers to, and learn along with my audience in real time. When Lindsey and I first got into podcasting, it wasn’t as popular as it is now so it felt like this new exciting frontier where we got to pave our own way. And to this day, it still feels that way because we get to make our own rules and evolve our podcast along with us. That’s the magic of podcasting!
How did Almost 30 Podcast get started, and what does it look like now?
My co-host Lindsey Simcik and I started Almost 30 about five years ago. We met as we were transitioning from our 20s to our 30s — during our Saturn Returns — and we were having these really deep conversations around fear, rejection, relationships, and spirituality, so we started recording ourselves on our closet floors. It started as a passion project and a side hustle, and we built it slowly on our own terms while we kept our full-time jobs. Five years later, Almost 30 is now a top 50 podcast with more than 30 million downloads and 400+ episodes and has been nominated for Best Wellness Podcast and Best Spirituality Podcast by iHeartRadio. We’ve evolved the podcast into a global brand and community, and we now have a dynamic monthly membership program, digital workshops and courses, and a platform called PodcastPro to teach other podcasters how to create the brand of their dreams. Almost 30 has grown and evolved as Lindsey and I have, and we are so proud of what it has become!
What are some time management tips you have for getting more done in a day?
Lindsey and I now run our business bi-coastally (she’s in New York and I’m in Los Angeles), so it’s become more important than ever that we’re very efficient with our time. We time batch our projects, so we carve out certain weeks in our schedule that are exclusively for recording or filming. I do the same in my day-to-day life. I schedule specific days for calls with our team and other meetings. I also set aside time blocks for deep work like big-picture visioning and brainstorming. I highly suggest blocking off time in your calendar for creative work so you can focus on your zone of genius — uninterrupted by emails and meetings. If that means answering an email has to wait, then it will wait. Put your phone on ‘Do Not Disturb’ and get into your flow.
One of the biggest things that has helped me is mediation in the morning which seems to somehow create more space and time in my day. It helps me to prioritize what really matters much quicker. I do my own meditation for 20 minutes before starting my day.
Also I take lots of walks daily where I take my phone and get at least two hours of work time in while walking - I will answer emails, DM’s, phone calls, do quick errands. I find it to be super helpful to multitask while moving!
Last, I try to stay sharp with nootropics and functional mushrooms which help to keep me sharp everyday! I love Four Sigmatic, and Qualia brands. □
