How did you two meet and when did you begin working together?
Val - We were mutual Instagram followers. Ruby had sent me a message introducing me to her jewelry collection and her stylist program. At the time, I was in the process of launching my PR agency, which was focused on representing brands in the fashion industry. Once I saw her brand line, I knew it would be perfect for our showroom. In October of 2020, she agreed to come on board with my agency. The rest has been history. In January 2021, we had our first in-person meet up. As soon as we met, I knew we would forge a phenomenal business relationship.
Ruby - I found Val on on Instagram while working as an L.A. stylist and thought that she would be an ideal brand ambassador with her effortless, chic style. When I reached out to her for a collaboration, I had no idea she was in the process of opening her own showroom in L.A. When she told me about it, I was really excited about the timing of our connection, as her showroom seemed like a perfect opportunity for us to work and grow together.
What roles do you two play in the business?
Val - We collaborate on many levels here at RubyintheSkies. Our main focus is our L.A. showroom. Every week, we bring in a roster of celebrity stylists to use Ruby’s pieces in editorials, public appearances, red-carpet, tv, film, and more. Overall, our role is to guide fashion brands from every angle. We look over Instagram visuals, collaborate with photographers, and much more. The coolest part of our job is opportunities like this, where we can share our clients' businesses on a wider platform. This is truly a dream come true; it is why I am in this business. Watching our brands grow and succeed is so rewarding.
Ruby - Working with a showroom was a brand-new experience for me and my business. It has been both very educational and super fun! RubyintheSkies has experienced a remarkable period of growth in the past year. We have opened a flagship store and expanded our satellite locations throughout San Diego. Val has been there every step of the way! I have called on her for advice and consultation on many aspects of running a small fashion business and she has always come through. I have learned so much from her and I am proud of our relationship. It is truly an example of women working together and collaborating in support of each other's goals and ambitions.

What has been one of the best moments that you have shared as business partners?
Val - Three months into our partnership, a colleague from the past reached out to RubyintheSkies. At the time, he was a stylist to a major influencer with a following of over 40 million. He wanted to collaborate with us for his client. I was floored, as it was our first huge placement and it was incredible. I knew from that moment we were on to big things.
Ruby - We have had a lot of fun together! The placement that Val mentioned absolutely a highlight for us both, but there have been several other moments where I have had to pinch myself and ask, "is this really happening?" Val's sentiment that we are on to big things resonates with me... I imagine us continuously growing, expanding our respective businesses, and working together for years to come.
What are your favorite pieces of jewelry at the moment?
Our favorite piece of jewelry at the moment is the Kamaria Bar Bangle. We love its value as a symbol of strength and timelessness. It has both feminine and masculine qualities, which make it a great piece to add to anyone's collection.
Right now, we are feeling a pull toward pieces featuring gemstones, such as the Leda Emerald CZ Huggies and the Aura CZ Gemstone Hoops. Color always lightens and brightens the mood.
Is there anything new or exciting on the horizon for Ruby in The Skies?
RubyintheSkies is always growing and evolving, so we always have exciting changes on the horizon! That being said, we are especially excited for our grand opening launch event this fall. □
