Founder of WVN, Kate Fisher

Introduce yourself. What's your story?

My name is Kate Fisher and I am the founder of WVN( pronounced woven), a new, modern brand that makes universally-loved women’s clothing with an unwavering commitment to sustainability and fair trade practices. I began my first apparel business in 1993 when I began selling clothes from my travels in India and Nepal at “Grateful Dead” concerts. After pivoting to all-organic fabrics, I founded Synergy Organic Clothing with my husband and business partner, Henry Schwab. WVN is the culmination of nearly three decades of experience building a large-scale women’s clothing brand while staying true to doing great fashion the right way.

What are your current hobbies?

Yoga, meditation, hiking, parenting, cooking, and dancing.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since beginning your career?

Trust your gut and treat everyone with kindness and respect.

What is your favorite part of your workspace; how do you make it your "own"?

I love working with my boards, which contain my inspiration as well as the design projects I am working on. They are like my creative play area.

How do you stay inspired? What keeps you motivated to keep going?

Taking good care of myself and also staying aligned with my purpose. For me, this purpose is making sustainable fashion that connects people, products, and the makers while taking care of the planet.

How do you define success?

Doing what you love and enjoying it, and, hopefully, helping make the world a better place to live. □
