Getting Bold With Photographer, Alisa Karin
First of all... Your work is stunning! How did you get into photography?
Thank you! I fell for it very naturally. I have had my camera since I was fifteen, but, at the time, I didn’t use it much. Two years ago, I started taking close-ups of everything around me and I became addicted to details. Whenever I was alone in my house and I was trying to take a little break from the socials, I took my camera with me and just had fun. This allowed me to look at things that am otherwise used to looking at in new, different, beautiful, and unique ways. Suddenly, everything around me became exciting.
What is one piece of advice that you would give to women who are interested in getting into the photography industry?
Be bold, be brave, get out there, post your work, and, most importantly, be authentic to yourself.
Who are some of your dream clients and why?
I would love to work with Bella Hadid one day. She has this pure angelic energy but this devilish look. I love her internal and external beauty.
How important is community to you? How do you seek out support, mentorship, and friendship within the photography industry?
This industry is huge. There are so many amazing and talented photographers who work very hard. It’s always very exciting when I meet a person with whom I share similar ideas, aesthetic, concept etc. I have some favorite photographers who inspire me to chase my dreams, which I think is very important. Find some mentors you look up to. I have always been more of an introvert; my art is something very special to me. It took a long time for me to learn and share my work with more people. Now, I am connecting and socializing with many great artists, which is truly amazing.
What are you looking forward to most in 2022?
I am starting a year of inner healing. Last year was a rollercoaster. Now, I need to pay attention to myself. I am excited for the summer, the sea, and an exhibition that I will be part of. So, there are some upcoming things you will definitely enjoy! □
