Founder Of The Female Startup Club, Doone Roisin

We love your podcast so much. How did you get started? What's your background?

A few years ago, I was building a DTC brand and struggling to figure out my next steps. At the time, I was talking to my girlfriends, who were business founders, asking them questions about their own strategies: growth, hiring, challenges, etc. Around the same time, I was reading “Tools of Titans” by Tim Ferriss - which is such a great book - and found myself wondering why there were no women being represented with that same, direct, no B.S. approach to business. I started casually posting on my podcast, “Female Startup Club,” and, before I knew it, it had grown into something. Today, we’ve interviewed 280+ founders on their blueprints and businesses. We consistently rank in the top charts globally and recently ranked top 10 in the US and UK for entrepreneurship. I am still pinching myself!

In your opinion, what's the most attractive thing about entrepreneurship?

There are two core things that make entrepreneurship attractive. If you can build a business that brings you joy on a daily basis, even through the ups and downs, you’re winning. Having clear goals is important, but you need to enjoy the ride to get there. Secondly, the money and wealth that you can build for yourself and your family. It is pretty sexy.

What industries do you think will be 10x in popularity over the next 5 years? Why?

I’m excited to see how blockchain/crypto, NFTs, and the metaverse are going to impact our lives and the way we build businesses in the future. I also think the creator economy is going to change how we operate within regular corporate companies. We will see more creators being brought into businesses to co-create media channels.

What advice would you give to younger women who are interested in pursuing entrepreneurship?

If you’re working a 9-5, use your salary as your “investment” into your business. Start a small side hustle that you can grow in your spare time while focusing on building a real community and your “playground” to learn. I wish I did this in my early twenties.

Are you currently working on any fun projects? Care to share with our audience?

I am SO excited to be launching my first book this month (in celebration of Women’s History Month). The book, “Your Hype Girl,” is a compilation of 51 founder stories and includes key learning & tactics from the show. It’s meant for current and future entrepreneurs as well as people who just want to know more about the women behind the brands they buy, use, and love.

We also recently released our first collaboration with The Dairy, which is a range of our signature vibes on desk accessories. It’s a “make your desk cute” situation.

What are you looking forward to most in 2022?

The growth of “Female Startup Club”! We have some big goals for the podcast, and, with the book coming out, I think it’s going to be a pretty wild year.
