CEO & Founder Of Beautycounter, Gregg Renfrew

Gregg Renfrew began her career by starting several businesses. But she made a name for herself in 2013 when she launched a very different kind of project, a clean beauty brand she named Beautycounter. With Beautycounter, Gregg Renfrew has changed the game of makeup and skincare with choices that are safer and more environmentally sustainable. They are constantly reinventing their brand, updating the packaging and presentation of their products, and coming up with new options. Their clean deodorant came out earlier in 2021 and is getting a lot of buzz for its effectiveness. Not only is it missing harsh ingredients like aluminum, it is refillable, which means it is; reducing water use, fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 47%.

Beautycounter is also working on making lasting change on a national level.  Renfrew is actively lobbying for regulation in the cosmetics industry to limit the number of harmful chemicals in the products sold in America.  In December of 2019, Gregg Renfrew testified as an expert witness in a Congressional hearing on cosmetic reform.

“We’re not a beauty company, we’re a movement.” - Gregg Renfrew

Beautycounter received recognition during award season earlier this year with makeup artists for celebrities like Mindy Kaling and Tina Fey revealing which products the women used for their flawless looks at the SAG and Golden Globe awards. Beautycounter products have been shown some love with awards by some of our top beauty magazines, and they have been counted among some of the best clean makeup choices out there. In addition, Carlyle Group, the world’s second-largest private equity fund, recently acquired a majority stake in Beautycounter, which now puts Beautycounter’s value at $1 billion. Keep your eye on this clean beauty company, they are doing big things!
