Singer-Songwriter, Neriah Fisher

What inspired you to become a singer-songwriter?

Growing up, music was always my "safe haven," getting me through a lot of difficult experiences. Music became my "therapy"; through my music and songs, I hope that I can do the same for others.

What is your favorite thing about being a musician?

I love how, as a musician, you get so close to the people you work with. I love meeting new people and it is so crazy to me how quickly you can go from knowing nothing about a person to diving into each other's lives. After few hours spent in session with another musician, you can get into each other's life stories, both good and bad. It is truly amazing to watch these stories transform into songs.

What kind of music do you listen to? Who are some of your favorite artists?

I love listening to all kinds of music. Julia Michaels is my biggest inspiration; I love her and think that her writing and music are impeccable. I also love Rüfüs du Sol, Gracey, Lennon Stella, Dua Lipa, and Rosie. What is interesting to me is that, since I have been writing and doing sessions every day, I find myself listening to music less often; I like to stay in my zone and completely indulge myself with my own musical sound.

Which year of your life would you like to relive and why?

I would definitely relive the first year of my life. At the time, my mom was on a really fun TV show called Wild-On, where she and I traveled the world... I was traveling so much that my first word was airplane. I would love to go back so I could remember these trips.

Outside of music, what do you like to do in your free time?

Music definitely takes up the majority of my time. Whenever I have free time, I am usually still doing something music-related. It never feels like work; I think that’s why I love it so much! Aside from that, I love to cook, play pickle ball, work out, and spend time with my friends and family.
