Women’s Long Jump Olympic Finalist, Darya Klishina

Introduce yourself, what's your background/story?

My name is Darya Klishina and I have been a participant and finalist in two Olympic games.  From age 6 to 11, I played volleyball, but later I chose the individual sport of track-and-field.

What advice would you give to someone pursuing your field of work?

In sports, it is vital to have self-discipline and an unconditional love for your sport. It is important to understand that hard work is crucial to obtaining the results that you want. It is not all about talent when it comes to sports; your coach and your team are additionally important. Within this small group, you should feel confidence, trust and support.

What are your goals for 2022?

Each year is kind of a new, short “life.” I try to add something interesting to each year to make it productive in all possible respects.

This year will see my new - second - sports clothing collection, which will be a collaboration with Dry World Company. This means that we are moving in the right direction. In the future, we have a lot of work to do; new ideas to be translated into life.

At the same time, I will dive deeper into this profession by working as a sports agent.

These past two years have shown the entire world that it is so important to care about your health and the health of your beloved ones. Family will always be your number one priority.

Who do you look up to and why?

I never had any idols in my life; instead, I try to get what I believe is best for me from other people. At the same time, I try to grow as an independent individual. I am guided by my own principles and want to live my own life.

How would you define success?

Success is a state of mind. It is a sum of many - even minor - things. It can change and modify due to other things happening in your life. My secret to success is to think positively.

How do you like to spend your days off?

For me, the vital part of my days off is to get enough sleep. I also try not to use my phone on weekends. Instead, I love to spend time outside with my family and friends.
