From The Founder: Gifts & Lessons

July was a great month for H3R. We learned and grew so much as a company. The biggest highlight of the month was expanding our team. We hired an equal partner who will be properly introduced in the September issue alongside other new amazing interns. Starting the company solely as a creative visionary, I was quick to acknowledge the need for an operations team that enjoyed data, HR software, and creating infrastructures to ensure proper workflow. During July, H3R built out a complete operations division. This process took a month but was the best investment we could have ever made. It is impossible to scale a company without a dependable operations system and team in place. All of this brings me to the point of this letter: A company can only be healthy when its team members are given the proper resources, systems, and tools they need to be healthy.

I have been reading a lot about leadership development and there always seems to be a common theme within every book I read. This theme is humility. Pride can be the pitfall of so many companies because the ego wants all of the credit and never wants to be told that they are wrong. Pride also wants to control everything. When a leader controls everything, nothing gets done. It's so unproductive! The truth is that no one can do it all and be equally gifted in doing so. Everyone has very unique specialties and differences. It takes humility to acknowledge that you (as a leader) might not be good at a lot of things and that’s okay! This is where the beauty of a team comes in. A healthy leader is a humble leader. When a leader is humble enough to acknowledge their areas of growth, they can then execute a strategy that allows them to properly accomplish the company’s goals.

As leaders, we must be constantly developing to fit the needs of our team by becoming self-aware. We need to understand ourselves completely. What's our personality type, communication style, and overall outlook on life? When we understand how we operate as individuals we can adapt to fit the needs and differences of our team members. At the end of the day, it’s the people that are priceless. People matter more than any sale, metric, or system. The health of your company can only be as healthy as your team. When you put people above profit you are communicating that your company genuinely cares about ethics. At H3R people are the main priority. I encourage business owners to tend to the health of their team members before tending to anything else. When doing so you are creating a better quality of life for your employees which in return makes your company sustainable.

I am so excited for August as there are so many new and exciting things taking place. With my birthday (26th hehe), a new partner, company photographer, and a lot more projects I know I will have lots to share with you next month. For now, I hope you enjoy reading this amazing issue. We interviewed so many inspirational women. I would love to hear from you. Email us at hello@h3r.space to share any thoughts, words of encouragement, or stories you feel would be of interest to us.

Until next time!
