From The Founder: Gifts & Lessons
July was a great month for H3R. We learned and grew so much as a company. The biggest highlight of the month was expanding our team. Starting the company solely as a creative visionary, I was quick to acknowledge the need for an operations team that enjoyed data, HR software, and creating infrastructures to ensure proper workflow.
August 2021 Covergirl: Rising Musical Artist MXMTOON
The average 21 year-old is not a national pop star. Maia, who is more famously known as mxmtoon (em-ex-em-toon), is an exception. Hailing from Oakland, California, Maia has over 923,000 followers on Instagram and 2.6 million followers on TikTok.
Charcuterie Me Founder, Nai Zhao
Charcuterie Me was born out of my passion for charcuterie. I would always DIY my own boards at home when I wanted to have a fancy night in and treat myself.
PYT Beauty Founder, Mary Schulman
Three years ago, on July 23, we launched PYT Beauty with a mission to offer Clean Makeup product to ALL who seek it. Our first retail partner (Credo Beauty) partnered with us to offer our full assortment (30 products) of color cosmetics in all of their retail locations as well as online.
Guide Beauty Founder, Terri Bryant
GUIDE Beauty was an idea born out of love and challenge. In the prime of my career as a makeup artist and beauty educator, I started to notice stiffness in my shoulder and a loss of dexterity in my hands. There was a growing disconnect between my ability and the brushes, lipsticks and liners in my hand.
How Audrey Gruss Founded Hope Fragrances To Shine Light On Mental Health
My mother Hope inspired me to start Hope For Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) and to create the Hope Fragrance Collection. She was a very talented and creative woman who had extraordinary life qualities, but in the late 50’s she also had what was then called a “nervous breakdown.”
Sugared & Bronzed Founder, Courtney Claghorn
SUGARED + BRONZED was started out of my Santa Monica apartment in November 2010 when I was 23 years old. I had a “corporate” job down the street and during the early days of the business, I would spray tan clients during lunch or after work. After a few months of seeing the business grow, I left my job to take clients full time and began to look for our first retail space.
How Jessica Hawks Built & Scaled Her Online Coaching Business
I had always desired a career where I could travel, work from home, make my own schedule and feel creatively fulfilled. Even though I wanted all of those things, they felt completely out of reach for me.
Social Media Guru & Founder Of Managed By Skye, Skyelar Garcia
My business started when I was 20 years old working as a receptionist at a spa and was bored just working 20 hours a week doing the same thing over and over again. What I decided was to approach an Acai Bowl small business across the street and ask if they needed a Social Media Manager. It turns out, THEY DID!
Ann Marie Coolick On Developing Her Unique Painting Style
I've been painting exclusively with knives for about 15 years. I've always painted thick, but I switched to only knives when the time/energy required to keep brushes clean was too much especially when working out of a shared studio space. I never looked back and have since started painting with spatulas and even spoons.
How Kate Hickman Turned Her Passion For Art Into A Career
I was the "craft kid" growing up for my entire life, and art had always been my most passionate subject in school. There was something about getting lost in it; the painting, the process of creating. It's still a feeling that I can't quite describe, but I knew that it was my happiest state, so I wanted to chase that feeling for the rest of my life.
Author of the Skyhunter Series, Marie Lu
What inspired you to become a writer? I think I always dreamed of working in something creative, so when I first started writing, it was just that—a dream to do something I love. Then it became a desire to emulate some of my earliest favorite authors.
Organizational Psychology
Everyone has a selection of brands that they swear by. Yes, some are more loyal customers than others, ranging from those who use a product religiously to those who merely make passing remarks in favor of a particular brand. This phenomenon begs the question: Why do people feel so strongly about certain brands?
How Jasmine Thomas Shifted Careers, From The WNBA To Becoming An Entrepreneur
How did your love for basketball begin, and how did you get to where you are today? I started playing basketball when I was 9 years old and fell in love with it right away and fell in love with it about a year later when I started playing more competitively. I loved how the sport challenged me and that it allowed me to travel and make friends.
Ponytail on a Trail Founder, Bradee Smith
How long have you been hiking? Who or what inspired you to hit the trail? I first started hiking about 5 years ago when I relocated from Indiana to Denver, CO. This midwest gal had literally never hiked or camped in her life. I was extremely intimidated by the outdoors culture + lifestyle in Colorado but became immediately drawn towards hiking because it seemed the least intimidated and there was less of a barrier to entry.
Cookie Dough Cafe Founders, Joan Pacetti & Julia Schmid
My sister Joan and I started The Cookie Dough Cafe back in 2011. We come from a family of 7 and 5 out of 7 of us are entrepreneurs. Our mom would always make homemade cookie dough and we would lick the beaters, it was always the best part.
