Wellness Coach And Founder Shows Us How To Empower The Mind & Body

Carly Rowena is a Wellness Coach and Content Creator who utilizes her platforms to assist people in feeling less alone and connecting with their mind, body, and the environment around them. Carly has organized retreats all around the world, from Peru to Africa, with the goal of connecting individuals with their like-minded community. During the lockdown, Carly released her book, titled 'My Beautiful Body,' which empowers children and the adults reading it to fall in love with what their bodies can do. Last week, she launched her app, Moodment, which is designed to help you feel less alone and more attuned to your actual needs, regardless of the day. Moodment offers a curated feed of various practices, including hypnosis, meditation, yoga, and workouts, to help you uplift your mood and let go of any burdens weighing you down.

We’re taught to be a lot of things and one of those things is happy but what if trying to be happy is what makes you feel the opposite?

I've spent a lot of laps around the sun ignoring my gut feelings, intuition, and mood in the pursuit of being what I think I should be, and in total honesty, it didn’t leave me feeling all that great. I wrote the idea for Moodment in the notes section of my phone over 2 years ago but kept telling myself I couldn’t do it. Then came the pandemic, and it became even more clear to me how much I wished there was a space that took into count just how much my mood and emotions affected what I wanted and can do. 2023 is all about building connections and helping Moodment users feel supported with ‘mood-meets’ weekly live workshops and more.

How can people implement the Moodment app into their daily routines?

Moodment is there to support your routine, using it to either maintain or boost a mood or by using it to become a certain mood. Simply log in, select the mood you are, or the mood you want to be in, choose why, and then listen, watch, or read the piece of content that has been shared to aid you. Moodment can also be used as a safe place to let go of a secret or something that is weighing you down, it also has incredible workout and yoga routines perfect for helping you move in a way that feels aligned with your mood and your abilities each day, eg: menstrual.

What is something you are currently working on in your personal life?

Personally, there is so much going on behind in the background, it’s going to be a very exciting year with big changes!

Tell us about the retreats you host. What can people expect to experience this and plans for the future?

I first started creating retreats over 8 years ago after realizing I didn’t have friends at the time that wanted to do the same things as me, this is where I started doing fitness retreats and retreat challenges such as climbing Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu. I have upcoming retreats in Portugal, Ibiza, and Yorkshire coming up, not to mention day retreats, workshops, and mood meets. My retreats are based around making connections, having fun, moving your body, and eating delicious food, including dessert, with no restrictions over here.

Walk us through your #LetsSweatTogether movement.

I've always been a personal trainer and taught classes virtually on YouTube but during the lockdown, I moved everything onto Zoom, we had over 300 people in a class at one point and it was such a wonderful, safe space to connect. LetsSweat continued for nearly 2.5 years and has now merged into the Moodment app.

How do you design your workout series for beginners?

I love creating workouts for beginners, for me, the most important factor is building confidence and a solid foundation of form, getting the basics correct is always the most important but keeping it doable and interesting is what will keep people wanting to return.

What advice can you share for someone who is struggling with difficult emotions?

You are normal, we are not meant to be happy all the time, to be human is to experience emotions, that’s a luxury and a curse that we get to experience. The best way to deal with difficult emotions is to work out your triggers and learn coping mechanisms, that's exactly where Moodment comes in, meditation/hypnosis/journal prompts/affirmations/challenges/voice notes to help you when you need it.
