Artist & H+ Creative Founder, Hannah Stouffer
What is your background in art? Was there a specific moment when you realized you wanted to pursue an art career? Art is something that I have pursued since the beginning on all sides of creative. I was a commercial creator, exhibiting painter and illustrator for a long time, then I worked as a writer for creative publications, Vice and Juxtapoz, for about 5 years.
Emma Make Artist, Emma Hall
What is your background in design? Was there a specific moment when you realized you wanted to pursue a career in design? I graduated from a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Newcastle University in the UK in 2013.
Artist & Interior Designer, Candice Luter
What inspired you to become an artist and interior designer? Although I had always been creative as a child, I grew up at a time when "entrepreneur" wasn’t a word; it might as well have been called “starving artist." It wasn’t until later on in life that I reconnected with my creative side, realizing that I felt stuck and unhappy in corporate America.
Wendy Maruyama, Artist
What ideologies or thoughts inspire your art? Initially, I have always been inspired by my environs: I love to travel and have been lucky to have been selected to be an artist in residence in so many different parts of the world: the colors, the smells, and culture has always provided fodder for new work.
Sasha Adler Design Founder & CEO, Sasha Adler
What were your early inspirations that set you off on your particular journey? From a young age I was absolutely obsessed with fashion, jewelry, and interiors. I even asked for new bedding for my 10th birthday. I started off working in the fashion industry in New York after college and did everything from styling to PR to editorial.
How Illustrator Victoria Cubbon Started The Creative Women Community
Why did Creative Women Community get started, and what does it look like now? Creative Women Community started because as I was transitioning from a Graphic Designer to an Illustrator, I was seeking support and didn't know where to look.
Behind The Lens Of Photographer Robyn Lea
What inspired you to become a photographer? The creative, visual and performing arts were all important to me growing up in regional Victoria, Australia. I had many artistic interests.
Melina Mansing, The Tattoo Artist Behind Handpushed
When did you get your first tattoo, and what inspired you to start Handpushed? I remember it being very cold, snowing in fact. I was wearing a Fall TNA jacket with no gloves and probably some ripped jeans.
Rising Dawn Ceramics Founder, Kelsey Dawn
Who is your biggest inspiration? This question is surprisingly hard for me to answer. I have different people who inspire me for different reasons. My mother for her humor, my father for his wisdom, my partner for his empathy... When I think of who inspires me every day, especially in my creative space, I just see "her."
Nature-Focused Artist & Illustrator, Bronwyn Kelly
It’s funny because when I first started illustrating, I was so concerned with finding my style, and that actually prevented me from doing my best work. Rather than just getting into a state of flow and letting my creativity take over, I was thinking too much about what my art “should” look like.
Minimalist Tattoo Artist, Rosa Perr
How did you get started? I have always made visual art. I grew up in our father’s art studio in Greenwich Village. I was mostly painting and doing collage. One day I wanted a small tattoo and gave it to myself and more and more people started wanting them.
Defining Creativity with Sarah Grossman
I have made and been passionate about art my entire life; I went to art school and had such an amazing time. However, I knew pretty early on that I didn't want to be a working studio artist.
Illustrative Fun, Ava Wolf
Tell us about yourself and your illustrations. I am a self-taught, self-employed illustrator currently living in Nashville, TN, with my husband. My artwork focuses on mental health, anxiety, and life through somewhat of a "visual diary," in which I draw about my feelings and life experiences.
